Proteus Garden Maintenance High Lane are very lucky to be part of the High Lane community. Serving High Lane, Disley, Marple, Hazel Grove and Romiley is of great pleasure and feel lucky to live in such a beautiful part of Greater Manchester. As i drive round i am always stunned at how many beautiful gardens there are and am so happy to make them look amazing. I try hard to keep my prices affordable but unfortunately in these unsettled times it can be hard. I will always accommodate customers needs where possible.
You pick the times that suit you, whether it’s a one off job, weekly, fortnightly or monthly. Just be aware that the longer you leave between visits the harder it is to finish the job to perfection. During summer times the ideal frequency of visits should be fortnightly to keep your garden in tip top condition. Leaf Blowing
During Autumn when leaves are heavy a lot of time can be taken by blowing and clearing. Wherever possible i will use the mower to suck the leaves up rather than blowing them to somewhere else. I also try and bag them up where possible. Ideally these would go into your green bin. Blowing is faster than raking so is always the best option and better value for money. If you prefer leaves to be raked i would have to charge accordingly. Wet leaves can be stubborn and are always better being blown.
Weeding
Weeding can be a time consuming job depending on the size and state of your garden. Ideally weeds should be removed when young to avoid taking nutrients from your surrounding plants. I use different methods like hand pulling, hoeing and using a weeding claw. Sometimes the temptation is to cover the soil with bark or stones but this doesn’t always stop them and can make it more difficult to get the weeds out so there is a balance to be had. It also means that when blowing it can remove the cover so think carefully about what you are trying to achieve. Ideally you would want to weed early Spring and late Winter to avoid them getting established. Ultimately the aim is to reduce their competition with desired flora. Weeding is also a good opportunity to check the surrounding plants. If you have a large area of weeds away from your main plants it is sometimes good to leave them to help with pollination.
